IN THIS HANDS-ON CLASS, learn how to make one of the world’s most iconic foods: authentic Bavarian soft pretzels. Andrea Slonecker, author of the new book Pretzel Making at Home (Chronicle), traveled the world researching pretzel traditions and regional variations. She’ll share history and lore, as well as the scientific aspects of baking this unique bread. From mixing and shaping the dough to developing that characteristic color, texture, and flavor, learn the tricks of the pros for making soft pretzels in a variety of shapes. With the addition of homemade mustard, you’ll be fully equipped to host an Oktoberfest party of your own. Recipes include Traditional Soft Pretzels, PretzelWrapped Sausages from Old Salt, and Spiced Beer Mustard. We’ll enjoy our Bavarian biergarten feast with beers from Upright Brewing. The class will wrap with a book signing, and copies of her book are available for purchase when you register for the class at a fabulous discount. Supplies to bring: Apron
